 Solo pasa que ya comencé a leer el último libro de la saga de Harry Potter llamado Harry Potter y el Legado Maldito. Y tú también puedes leerlo mientras dure ESTE HECHIZO.

Ceremonia de Inauguración Londres 2012

En general de lo que vi me pareció una muy buena inauguración. Me encantaron los anillos olímpicos al inicio.

Eso sí, no esperaba ver a la Reina siendo escoltada por James Bond  para acabar lanzándose en paracaídas al complejo olímpico.

Hasta Sir Winston Churchill hizo una participación especial!

Pero creo que lo que a muchos nos sorprendió gratamente también fue ver quién comenzó a leer un fragmento de Peter Pan...

¡JK Rowling! ¡la escritora de Harry Potter!

Por cierto parecía que Jo leía desde un montículo de Hobbiton

El escenario hasta parecía tener al Árbol de la Fiesta de Bilbo Baggins de El Señor de los Anillos... peor según me dijeron en twitter era Glastonbury.

Me gustaron esos guiños que hubieron a la literatura infantil.

Pero a pesar de que yo mismo lo había leído y puesto en el post anterior no esperaba en verdad encontrar lo que vendría en esta ceremonia.

En efecto, aparecieron varios villanos de la literatura infantil británica como Cruella de Vil, el Capitán Garfio y Lord Voldemort luego del baile de los médicos, enfermeras y niños pacientes.

Pero tanto bla, bla bla...

Muy buena la actuación de Rowan Atkinson, Mr Bean, que se robó el show con su intervención durante el Chariots of Fire.

El paso de las delegaciones fue un tanto largo, hubieron varias en trajes típicos y otras en lo que parecían uniformes escolares. Destacable ver a Muhammad Ali aunque pareciera estar en otra el grande ya.

Perú pasando al compás de Mr Blue Sky de Electric Light Orchestra

Algo que fue evidente fue que algunas personas comenzaron a aburrirse con tanto desfile o algo así ... o no Su Majestad?? ¡jajaja!

Y lo mejor vino al cierre, el gran Sir Paul Mc Cartney se la pasó buen rato de la ceremonia informando en twitter a sus seguidores de lo que se venía. Travieso el genio. Hasta bromeó de las habilidades de Su Majestad con el paracaídas.

Hey Jude es de mis temas favoritos así que estaba contento. Por cierto muy mal por el canal local ése que interrumpió la transmisión de la ceremonia por pasar una tontería.

A su manera ha dejado buen recuerdo.

Parece que JK Rowling pensaba acabar la saga de Harry Potter con un final medio oscuro y muy muy en el futuro, a decir de lo que cuenta un periodista al que Jo le habría contado lo que pensaba acabar. Sea como sea no es canónico.

"Al Bosque Prohibido

Harry Potter marcha resignado para su ejecución en el Bosque Prohibido, pensando en qué tipo de maldición le lanzarán para matarlo. El joven mago descubre que el Señor Tenebroso le tiene preparado un hechizo especial: ha juntado a cientos de dementores, a quienes les pide “besar” su varita (el Beso del Dementor es una maldición que le arrebata el alma a las personas). Así, Voldemort extrae los “besos” para liquidar a Harry con ese castigo.

Camino al paredón, Potter nota dos presencias fantasmales a su lado, las cuales le reconfortan. En un inicio, creo que se trata de sus padres, pero al voltear a verlos, descubre que se trata de los de Voldemort. Harry encara a su némesis escoltado por Tom Riddle (su padre) y su madre Merope, quienes exclaman: "nuestro querido hijo, no dejaremos que te hagan daño". Harry ignora hacia quien van dirigidas las palabras. Al mirar a sus padres, Voldemort estalla en rabia y lanza la maldición hacia Potter.
El mago se inclina para recibir el impacto, pero algo raro sucede. El tiempo marcha hacia atrás a Voldemort, convirtiéndolo en una versión más joven (y poderosa) de él. El hechizo golpea la cicatriz de Harry, y tras un dolor “como si le rompieran el cráneo” rebota hacia su emisor. El efecto hace que Voldemort continúe rejuveneciendo, hasta que convertido en un bebé, los espectros de sus padres le envuelven para protegerlo. Y entonces el hechizo los golpeó. Ahora las tres almas unidas, Tom Riddle, su esposa y su joven hijo, permanecerán para siempre sepultadas en ese momento, incapaces de irse. Y nunca queriendo hacerlo.


Hogwarts 2130

Harry Potter celebra su cumpleaños 150 como Director de Hogwarts (después de las directoras Minerva McGonagal y Chang a decir de los retratos de la oficina del Director). Ginny su esposa —quien ha decidido convertirse en un ave del paraíso — le aconseja que salga a los patios de Howgarts a festejar. Potter se asoma a los jardines, centrando su atención en la estatua de una pareja y su hijo. Por alguna razón, el hechizo de Voldemort borró de la memoria de todos (excepto Harry) la existencia del Señor Oscuro. Así, sólo Harry sabe qué hay encerrado dentro de esa estatua.

El mago accede a la petición de Ginny de bajar a festejar su cumpleaños, pero antes le dice que quiere mantener vigilado a su tataranieto, un bebé que aún no camina. El niño está jugando en la alfombra con una rana de chocolate, cuando en un arranque inesperado de furia, “el pequeño Tom aplasta al animal de dulce”. Harry observó ese acto y supo que el mundo entero pronto se oscurecería de nuevo para las generaciones venideras."

La "precuela" de Harry Potter

Si el asunto no te interesa haciendo click arriba puedes escuchar una composición del maestro John Williams en compensación.

Para comenzar, lo que ven encima (y que es ampliable haciendo click) no es exactamente una precuela de las novelas de Harry Potter sino más bien un relato centrado en incidente que involucra a Los Merodeadores (la pandilla de .... "traviesos" del padre de Harry) 3 años antes del nacimiento del protagonista de la saga. JK Rowling lo escribió en 2 caras para caridad, creo eso es bueno. Ojalá la tía "se regenere" a futuro no tan lejano, hace ya buen tiempo dejó de simpatizarme como en otros tiempos.
Por si les interesa en el sitio de Waterstone hay escritos de otros autores de diversos géneros e invitan a la gente a participar con su relato corto. Hay buen premio y encima que es para caridad, que les aproveche. Espero las ganancias no se desvíen como suele suceder en ciertos sitios de Latinoamérica.

The speeding motorcycle took the sharp corner so fast in the darkness that both policemen in the pursuing car shouted,"Whoa!" Sergeant Fisher slammed his large foot on the brake, thinking that the boy who was riding pillion was sure to be flung under his wheels; however, the motorbike made the turn without unseating either of its riders, and with a wink of its red tail lights, vanished up the narrow side street.

"We've got 'em now!" cried PC Anderson excitedly. "That's a dead end!"

Leaning hard on the steering wheel and crashing his gears, Fisher scraped half the paint off the flank of the car as he forced it up the alleyway in pursuit.

There in the headlights sat their quarry, stationary at last after a quarter of an hour's chase. The two riders were trapped between a towering brick wall and the police car, which was now crawling towards them like some growling luminous-eyed predator.

There was so little space between the car doors and the walls of the alley that Fisher and Anderson had difficulty extricating themselves from the vehicle. It injured their dignity to have to inch, crab-like, towards the miscreants. Fisher dragged his generous belly along the wall, tearing buttons off his shirt as he went, and finally snapping off the wing mirror with his backside.

"Get off the bike!" he bellowed at the smirking youths, who sat basking in the flashing blue light as though enjoying it.

They did as they were told. Finally pulling free from the broken wing mirror, Fisher glared at them. They seemed to be in their late teens. The one who had been driving had long black hair, his insolent good looks reminded Fisher unpleasantly of his daughter's guitar-playing, layabout boyfriend. The second boy also had black hair, though his was short and stuck up in all directions; he wore glasses and a broad grin. Both were dressed in t-shirts emblazoned with a large golden bird; the emblem, no doubt, of some deafening, tuneless rock band.

"No helmets!" Fisher yelled, pointing from one uncovered head to the other. "Exceeding the speed limit by-by a considerable amount!" (In fact, the speed registered had been greater than Fisher was prepared to accept that any motorcycle could travel.) "Failure to stop for the police!"

"We'd have loved to stop for a chat," said the boy in glasses,"only we were trying--"

"Don't get smart-you two are in a heap of trouble!" snarled Anderson. "Names!"

"Names?" repeated the long-haired driver."Er-Well, let's see. There's Wilberforce...Bathsheba...Elvendork..."

"And what's nice about that one is, you can use it for a boy or a girl," said the boy in glasses.

"Oh, our names, did you mean?" asked the first, as Anderson spluttered with rage."You should've said! This here is James Potter, and I'm Sirius Black!"

"Things'll be seriously black for you in a minute, you cheeky little-"

But neither James nor Sirius was paying attention. They were suddenly as alert as gundogs, staring past Fisher and Anderson, over the roof of the police car, at the dark mouth of the alley. Then, with identical, fluid movements, they reached into their back pockets.

For the space of a heartbeat both policemen imagined guns gleaming at them, but a second later they saw that the motorcyclists had drawn nothing more than-

"Drumsticks?" jeered Anderson. "Right pair of jokers, aren't you? Right, we're arresting you on a charge of--"

But Anderson never got to name the charge. James and Sirius had shouted something incomprehensible, and the beams from the headlights had moved.

The policemen wheeled around, then staggered backwards. Three men were flying-actually flying- up the alley on broomsticks-and at the same moment,the police car was rearing up on its back wheels.

Fisher's knee buckled as he sat down hard; Anderson tripped over Fisher's legs and fell on top of him, as flump-bang-crunch- they heard the men on brooms slam into the suspended car and fall, apparently insensible, to the ground, while broken bits of broomstick clattered down around them.

The motorbike had roared into life again. His mouth hanging open, Fisher mustered the strength to look back at the two teenagers.

"Thanks very much!" called Sirius over the throb of the engine."We owe you one!"

"Yeah, nice meeting you!" said James. "And don't forget: Elvendork! It's unisex!"

There was an earth-shaking crash, and Fisher and Anderson threw their arms around each other in fright; their car had just fallen back to the ground. Now it was the motorcycle's turn to rear. Before the policemen's disbelieving eyes, it took off into thin air: James and Sirius zoomed away into the night sky, their tail light twinkling behind them like a vanishing ruby.

Cocacho en Stereo .. a propósito del gay de ultratumba

Ya que veo que en el tagboard hubo movida respecto a la noticia del fin de semana pasado sobre uno de los personajes centrales de los libros de Harry Potter diré que pienso que JK Rowling quería sólo figurar considerando que ya se llegó al fin de la saga y ella piensa sacar otro libro de quién sabe qué. ¿Qué otra cosa pudo haber causado tanto revuelo como saber que Albus Dumbledore era gay a estas alturas? Probablemente alguien dirá que era sospechoso que alguien supuestamente tan inteligente como Albus siguiera de esa manera a Grindelwald el mago oscuro de esos tiempos en sus años mozos. Pero igual como que la cosa parece sacada de último minuto, si quería decir algo porqué no lo metió en su libro 7 que tanto fue criticado en su momento incluso por muchos que seguimos al mago por años?

Pero eso sí, no olvidar que es sólo un personaje de literatura. Y esas actitudes de poner de pronto al buen abuelito como un viejo pedófilo que quizá quería ligar con Harry sí que me parecen fuera de lugar. Tampoco hay que ser así. Por las declaraciones de la Rowling mucho después de que se escribiera la última línea de un libro tampoco es para cambiar tan radicalmente las apreciaciones.

Eso sí, vuelvo a decir que no me gustó que Ms Rowling, en general, maltratara tanto a personajes con las que muchos chicos crecieron. Es cierto que los chicos deben saber que hay que tener los ojos abiertos pues no todo es lo que parece pero tampoco es bueno derrumbar imágenes que sirven de inspiración. Y no hablo de la repentina revelación de la sexualidad de Dumbledore sino de la lista de cosas que hizo al final.

Mi apoyo para Albus... y cocacho para ya saben ... (no se lo dediqué cuando salió el libro)
... PERO COCACHO EN STEREO!!!

Harry es auror (esto medio mundo lo esperaba), a instancia de Kingsley Shacklebolt (nuevo Ministro de Magia.
Hermione empezó trabajando en el Departamento de Control y Regulación de Criaturas Mágicas, para acabar destinada al Departamento de Aplicación de la Ley Mágica.
Ron trabaja con su hermano George en Sortilegios Weasley, amasando fortunas (este dato contradice el de hace pocos días, cuando Rowling dijo que Ron es auror.. TOTAL? aaah de repente es como los nuestros que a la par de trabajar para el Estado tienen sus negocios por lo bajo en Gamarra y relacionados).
Luna se casó al tiempo con un naturalista nieto del célebre Newt Scamander.
Ginny jugó durante años en las Arpías de Holyhead. Después se retiró para tener su familia y desde entonces es corresponsal especial de Quidditch para El Profeta. (en verdad toda una jugadora Ginny)
Harry y Voldemort están emparentados a través de los Peverell, pero no es relevante: casi todas las familias de magos lo están. (lo que pasa es que parafraseando a tía Muriel ellos se reproducen como cuyes enre sí).
Los Malfoy no fueron a Azkaban después de la segunda guerra, alegando que habían ayudado a Harry en la Batalla de Hogwarts.

La maldición de Defensa Contra las Artes Oscuras ha caído; Quirrell sólo enseñó esa asignatura por un curso. Previamente había sido maestro de Estudios Muggles.
Godric Gryffindor NO robó la espada. Eso sólo lo creen algunos duendes fanáticos. (por eso Neville pudo usarla para combatir a Nagini al estilo de Harry en La Cámara de los Secretos)
Dumbledore vería en el espejo de Oesed a su familia viva y él reconciliado con Aberforth. Su boggart es el cadáver de Ariana.... se notaba que había mentido diciendo que veía medias calientitas.
Bellatrix Lestrange estaba profundamente enamorada de Voldemort, pero se casó con un sangre-pura (Rodolphus Lestrange) porque era lo que se esperaba de ella. Al final igual se delató la tramposa y él igual.

J.K. Rowling: It was deliberate. Snape had effectively abandoned his post before dying, so he had not merited inclusion in these august circles.

J.K. Rowling: As established by Ollivander, a wizard can use almost any wand, it is simply that a wand that chooses him/her will work best. Where there is a family connection, a wand will work a little better than a wand chosen at random, I think.

J.K. Rowling: Yes, the new improved Percy ended up as a high-ranking official under Kingsley.

Su: How did neville get the gryfindor sword, is there a link to the hat

J.K. Rowling: Yes, there is very definitely a link to the hat!

J.K. Rowling: Neville, most worthy Gryffindor, asked for help just as Harry did in the Chamber of secrets, and Gryffindor's sword was transported into Gryffindor's old hat -

J.K. Rowling: - the Sorting Hat was Gryffindor's initially, as you know.

J.K. Rowling: Griphook was wrong - Gryffindor did not 'steal' the sword, not unless you are a goblin fanatic and believe that all goblin-made objects really belong to the maker.

Steph: Will azkaban still use dementors?

J.K. Rowling: No, definitely not. Kingsley would see to that. The use of Dementors was always a mark of the underlying corruption of the Ministry, as Dumbledore constantly maintained.

Smallbutpowerful: On behalf of all harry potter fans who consider themselves to be hufflepuffs could you please describe the hufflepuff common room as it is the only common room harry hasn’t visited

J.K. Rowling: The Hufflepuff common room is accessed through a portrait near the kitchens, as I am sure you have deduced.

J.K. Rowling: Sorry - I should say 'painting' rather than portrait, because it is a still-life.

J.K. Rowling: It is a very cosy and welcoming place, as dissimilar as possible from Snape's dungeon. Lots of yellow hangings, and fat armchairs, and little underground tunnels leading to the dormitories, all of which have perfectly round doors, like barrel tops.

Camille: How is george getting along without his twin

J.K. Rowling: Well, I don't think that George would ever get over losing Fred, which makes me feel so sad. However, he names his first child and son Fred, and he goes on to have a very successful career, helped by good old Ron.

J.K. Rowling: I'm sorry about this, but I changed my mind!

J.K. Rowling: My very earliest plan for the story involved somebody managing to get to Hogwarts when they had never done magic before, but I had changed my mind by the time I'd written the third book.

J.K. Rowling: Wormtail, desperate to curry favour, salvaged it from the place it had fallen and carried it to him. I admit that would have been a bit of a feat for a rat, but they are highly intelligent creatures!

J.K. Rowling: They all became pretty much what I expected/planned them to become.

J.K. Rowling: Of course they changed as I wrote, but nobody surprised me very much!

J.K. Rowling: It was a symbolic way of showing that he came from a loveless union - but of course, everything would have changed if Merope had survived and raised him herself and loved him.

J.K. Rowling: The enchantment under which Tom Riddle fathered Voldemort is important because it shows coercion, and there can't be many more prejudicial ways to enter the world than as the result of such a union.

J.K. Rowling: Yes, I do; though a very flawed hero. An anti-hero, perhaps. He is not a particularly likeable man in many ways. He remains rather cruel, a bully, riddled with bitterness and insecurity - and yet he loved, and showed loyalty to that love

J.K. Rowling: and, ultimately, laid down his life because of it. That's pretty heroic!

James Farrell: Voldemort never told anyone about his horcruxes, so how on earth did regulus black discover his secret

J.K. Rowling: Horcrux magic was not Voldemort's own invention; as is established in the story, other wizards had done it, though never gone as far as to make six.

J.K. Rowling: Voldemort dropped oblique hints; in his arrogance, he did not believe anybody would be clever enough to understand them.

J.K. Rowling: (He does so in the graveyard of Little Hangleton, in front of Harry). He did this before Regulus and Regulus guessed, correctly, what it was that made Voldemort so convinced he could not die.

J.K. Rowling: My pleasure, Finchburg! The Dark Mark would fade to a scar, not dissimilar to the lightning scar on Harry's forehead.

No, tampoco hablo de esto

Ya sé que quizá estés harto del tema pero si no MSNBC da dos links interesantes:
"Para de llorar! Se viene más Potter" y "Potter acabó? Rowling dice qué pasa a continuación"

Ocurre que cómo todo mundo que leyó el séptimo libro sabe el epílogo del libro es vago e impreciso, y hay que adivinar quién es quién. Yo pensaba que era para estimular la imaginación de los fans para que cada quien imaginara que fue de los protagonistas, pero no, como creo la mayoría ya habrá oido la tía Jo sacará su enciclopedia de Hogwarts donde rellenará lo que no puso en el fin del libro 7 y otras cosas, para mí que ese chat que hará con los fans el 30 de julio a las 2PM (GMT+1) es un truco para sacarles teorías y meterlas en su libro.
Dice que por un momento pensó matar a papá Weasley, y respecto al libro por venir cuenta qué fue de la maldición del profesor de defensa contra las oscuras que nunca duraba más de un año, que los padres de Neville nunca se recuperaron, del futuro de los chicos ya crecidos ya sea como aurores en caso de Harry y Ron o abogada mágica en el caso de Hermione, entre otras cosas. Cuenta que Dean Thomas tuvo una historia interesante sin dar mayor detalle. Con tanta cosa fácil que la tía Jo hasta convierte a Teddy Lupin en el David Beckham del mundo de los magos.

JK Rowling, el Diplodocus, los gorrones y el HNVDT

A pedido de los gorrones, (¡hasta por mail! digan de frente nomás) volví a poner un link de descarga (que no he comprobado pero veo que sí funciona) en cierto post, el que les mandé originalmente desapareció como sabrán. Busquen la sorpresa escondida (pista: donde dice sorpresa).
Por cierto, gracias a Escarlata Mix vi el video en que J K Rowling lee el primer capítulo del libro en el Museo de Historia Natural de Londres, pero ... a quién se le habría ocurrido voltear al dinosaurio Diplodocus para que pareciera que oía a Jo sobre la gente? en las fotos normales el dinosaurio sale con la cabeza en sentido contrario dando bienvenida a la gente. ¿Algún cultosaurio?
Esto me recuerda a que el Museo de Historia Natural local cada vez queda más chico. Como no tenían espacio para el caimán gigante Purussaurus le hicieron uno nuevo afuera, en el jardín trasero del Museo. Al ver este museo británico me da sana envidia.

Si quieren sentir como si de veras lo descubrieran, vayan al sitio oficial de JK Rowling.... y ahí...
1. En el escritorio principal, clickea en el borrador.
2. Clickea la puerta del corredor reflejada en el espejo, para ver un árbol de Navidad.
3. Otro click en la parte superior de la puerta principal, hasta que aparezca una guirnalda, y luego haz clic en el techo reflejado en el espejo, donde aparecerán más guirnaldas.
4. Click en la telaraña ubicada junto a la puerta, para que desaparezca.

The Leaky Cauldron tiene un especial interesante sobre el tema pues ni los angloparlantes nativos entienden bien que insinua el titulo, pero ya hay teorias en torno a lo de Hallow. Es que como dice Wikipedia el problema es que los términos utilizados en inglés son ambiguos:

1) Según el Oxford English Dictionary, hallow (como sustantivo, no como verbo) significa:

hallow (n.)

1. A holy personage, a saint. (Little used after 1500, and now preserved only in all-hallows and its combinations, q.v.)
2. In plural, applied to the shrines or relics of saints; the gods of the heathen or their shrines. In the phrase "to seek hallows", to visit the shrines or relics of saints; orig. as in sense 1, the saints themselves being thought of as present at their shrines.
3. A loud shout or cry, to incite dogs in the chase, to help combined effort, or to attract attention.

En castellano:

hallow (sustantivo)

1. Una persona sagrada, un santo. (Poco usado después del 1500, y en la actualidad sólo conservado en "todos los santos" y sus posibles combinaciones)
2. En plural, aplicado a los sepulcros o reliquias de santos; los dioses paganos o sus santuarios. En la frase "to seek hallows", visitar los sepulcros o reliquias de los santos; tiene su origen en la acepción 1: los santos en sí mismos, concebidos como presentes en sus reliquias/sepulcros.
3. Un fuerte grito o lloro, para incitar a los perros en la cacería, para ayudar en los esfuerzos colectivos, o para atraer la atención.

2) El caso de deathly parece, a primera vista, menos misterioso: es una adjetivación de death ("muerte"), que significa "mortal" o "de (la) muerte". Sin embargo, también aquí debemos estar abiertos a cualquier interpretación de la palabra:

* "relacionado con la muerte";
* "como la muerte, cadavérico";
* "mortífero, letal; que causa o es capaz de causar la muerte" (si bien es cierto que, en esta acepción, en inglés se utiliza más la palabra deadly, y no deathly);
* "que ha de morir o está sujeto a la muerte" (si bien hay que notar que, en esta última acepción, en inglés se utiliza más el término mortal).

Pero si no te hace paltas y quieres lo confirmado, lo sin confirmar entre otras cosas cliquea abajo...
